The Canadian release date isn't until April 17th so sit tight; but, the single Into Giants is available for free download here. It's warm, delightful and uplifting. Introducing WTF: Weekly Top Five

| * WTF * |
Weekends in the city will sooner or later become less of a reality for me once the cottage opens. As much as I live for live music, the lake trumps almost anything the city streets have to offer. Wouldn't it be great to have a little Cottage Series this summer??? Hmmmm lets see if I can pull it off. My friend's, their bands, my dock, and an audience of loons and fishes, this WILL happen. Watch ;) as for this weekend, Steam Whistle's UNSIGNED Indie Music Concert is TONIGHT! The Paint Movement is going to be there. (I love them so they get a special shout out) the other bands are totally amazing too. Doors open at 8pm and tickets are only $5.I plan on a whole lot of Yoga this weekend in between sleep and fun.
Mum & I plan to curl up in our best PJ's for a date with OSCAR on Sunday night. Sadly, i've had no time for movie watching this past year so I have no idea who and what will win but red carpet fashion should be enough to keep me entertained.

This hand belongs to the charming David Good, whose heart is as big as his smile! I love this photo shoot he did and am posting without his permission (eek) I hope he doesn't mind... Go find out more about David and where to find him in Toronto: HERE.
4) Feast for your Eyes... and your wallet :(
Spring collections are out! NYFW displayed everything from bold brights to pastels, whites and more. Vibrant colours and flowing pieces have taken over store fronts like little puppies without homes... just a few things to drool over until the streets become the catwalk....

Tarot of the Day
If you're someone who is a bit of a skeptic when it comes to things like cards, rocks or crystals don't stop reading. The messages hidden amongst the tarot can, if anything, provide inspiration or intention to your day, your week and sometimes your life.
The Nine of WandsToday's Affirmation: I acknowledge and grow into my strength.

This evening I've been invited to teach at an amazing event on UofT campus at Hart House. Downward for Dogs! Hosted by the IMSSA (Institute of Medical Science Students Association). All proceeds go directly to the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA). Class begins at 5:30 pm sharp, bring your mat and come support a great cause and move your body and spirit while you're at it. :) Big thank you to Melanie for being so incredible and inspiring! It is going to be a great night.

The Perfect White Wedding
First things first - Sorry for the unexpected disappearance. It's been a wild couple of weeks culminating in the wedding of two of my oldest, most wonderful friends. Now that the wedding is behind us, there is something of a void lingering in my chest. Without the anticipation of the big day and the excitement of having my nearest and dearest in town from far off lands, I'm left with soar cheeks from smiling, blistered toes from dancing, tired eyes and a heart so full of love... I kinda make myself sick. **sigh** How perfect is she?
Being a witness to such an abundance of love is enough to make anyone a little sentimental. It may be easy to find love, but it is not easy to fall in love. I've spent my entire life watching two of the most in love people take on the world hand in hand. My parents share something that sets what some might see as unrealistic expectations of partnership. When did we all get so jaded? I believe in passion and I live for just a taste of the adventures they have shared. It's not about where you end and he or she begins, it is so much more than that. The best relationships I have seen are built on interdependence. A shared dream alongside the fire of ones unique individuality and goals. Building each other up to be the best you both can be. Having your best friend there cheering you on, pushing you outside of your comfort zone and adoring you madly sounds like the kind of love that endures even the worst of times. If I could write the rules i'd say: if you can dance in the kitchen, laugh at yourselves and learn something every day, you're set. I'm no expert, I just like to write. This past week has been, without a doubt, a crazy ride, but at the end of the day, it is all worth it.
Did I mention Skratch Bastid DJ'd the wedding? ya, that happened... last song of the night... Killing me softly, also perhaps one of the best moments of the evening... Thanks for an unforgettable night J&B xo
Something else that made this gorgeous sunny, stroll in the park kinda day amazing was this...
The Wooden Sky Every Child a Daughter, Every Moon a Sun... follow the link and listen to the full stream of their new album. The toronto based band is playing April 20th but I can't remember where and i'm too tired to check :$, BUT Bahamas are back in town April 13th at Lee's and my ticket has already been safely secured ;)
Goodnight.

Since I have been so MIA, I thought i'd also post my top two over played songs of the past two weeks. Old favourites that never actually get old:
Finally... I'm trying to get.out.of.the.city.and.onto.the.beach. Progress went from 90% confirmed to 0% chance today in less than an hour :( Until, i have a ticket booked and work covered I will just have to keep looking at pictures and listening to my 'wave sounds'... so second rate. ah well. Have a great short week lovers.

Create something beautiful...
First things first: We are ALL creative creatures. Being creative doesn't have any one definition. If you're thinking you don't have the stroke of creative genius your artist friend has, you do, it's just sleeping and may come as a completely different expression of your unique and beautiful imagination. I stumbled upon this on my friends tumblr and thought there is a very inspiring, worthy challenge within these 33 ways to stay creative. So... I decided that this weekend I would challenge YOU (and myself) to working through the list and seeing what happens. Be creative with it. I'll let you know how I do and what becomes of it...
"STOP TRYING TO BE SOMEONE ELSE"S PERFECT" - I believe so so deeply that when you live your truth you will see just how perfect you already are without even having to work at it. Once you stop trying to fulfil someone else's idea of perfect you are free. Free to be. With freedom comes inspiration and with inspiration comes creativity, etc. etc. etc.
Last night I was so moved by The Bahamas Show at the Dakota I literally had some sort of otherworldly experience. You know that feeling that comes so seldom that when it does it's like a a huge wave of relief washes over you? The feeling that just hits you: this is my life, and I can do whatever I want with it.
Hmmmmm .... interesting thought.
This weekend my friends that deserted us for lovers and lives in other countries are home for JB's two weeks of Wedding-ness. Saturday is going to be scary... in that university rebellion kind of way. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't mildly terrified. 20 girls. A whole lot of leg ;)
Happy Weekend Lovelies...

Lights, Camera, Mondayyyy
I got a new
phone last week, iPhone 4s… I’m in Apple Heaven. One little thing this brilliant piece of
technology has is a little robot friend named Siri. I had NO idea what, ahem,
sorry WHO Siri was. That has all changed. You can pretty much ask her anything.
“Text Jimmy…”, “play music…”, “set my alarm for 6am…” and she will do it. But
what really blew me away and made my heart feel a little fuzzy was when we
asked Siri where she was… her response, “I am wherever you are”. Anyways, in anticipation for what kind of musical inspo was
going to come out of my weekend for today’s Music Monday, I asked Siri to play
my music library on shuffle… sometimes I love hitting shuffle and just letting
my music do its thing; that is how I get back in touch with old favourites and
realize what needs to be deleted. Saturday we headed out to Horseshoe for the Exclaim! Show. We were all super excited
to see Obhijou, Broken Social Scene, Rural Alberta Advantage, The Elwins etc. So
many great bands, right? THAT was the reason we were going in the first place.
Sadly, as us girls sometimes do, we let the predrink go a little too long and a
little too wine-y and we missed all the indie rock bands only to arrive just in
time for hip-hop Karaoke with Choclair…. In case you just went back to re-read
that last sentence, you read it right. Hip-hop Karaoke. Disappointment. So, we
left and find our own fun elsewhere, bumped into fabulous old friends and
called it a night. I ended up spending the first part of Sunday morning
watching videos of the bands I wish I had seen the night before. This one is definitely
worth sharing. Sweet sounds of The Elwins:
Saturday
night was kind of like a double fail, 1. Missed all the bands we wanted to see,
AND 2. Missed Bon Iver on SNL. BUT thanks to the internet here it is, in all of
its brilliance:
***** BON IVER on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE: Holocene ******
Ok. Sunday.
Started off with homemade Gluten Free, Raspberry Pancakes topped with 100% Pure
Canadian Maple Syrup (liquid GOLD - yum) with one of my oldest friends and
bride-to-be in less than 2 weeks! This wedding is going to be beyond stunning
and I am so excited to be a part of it… not to mention 2 of my ladies from overseas
are flying in at the end of the week to celebrate. The whole crew back together
again. Old friends are the best friends.
(Insert ‘awwwww’ here) As we prepare for the union of J&B, I’m tasked to
their slideshow and am at the point of music selection. This is actually
incredibly hard for a music lover. How do you pick the perfect song to fit not
only the theme of your slideshow but also speak to the love of the couple? I’ll
let you know how it goes… in the meantime leave suggestions below if you feel
inclined ;)
Sunday
turned into Sunday night and that meant three things: Spinaci Pizzaiolo, Tom
Brady and Madonna. I probably could tell you about how I feel about the Pats
big loss but I’m more interested in Madge’s Half Time spectacle. I love Madonna
but I don’t ‘L.U.V. Madonna’ (watch the video if you’re lost…) everything up
until the cheerleaders took the stage was perfection. I definitely hope to rock
out like the Material Girl when I’m 50+.
Finally and
perhaps the most important video/music find of today came to me in my inbox
bright and early this morning. After unrolling my mat for a sweet, sunny
morning yoga practice, my shiny new phone alerted me to a new message from T.
This is what she sent me… It’s beautiful. Have a wonderful Monday lovelies. I
hope you kill it this week ;)

Where to now...
4:53pm. Friday. SPIN starts in 37 minutes and I couldn't get myself on that bike soon enough!
Life seems to be throwing curve balls recently and every time i'm up to bat the most important thing I can do is breathe, focus and avoid the potentially fatal impact of the pitch. The more I take care of each moment with presence and awareness the better prepared I am to duck when needed. This morning I did something so stupid (not worth repeating for fear of embarrassment) but lets just say it made me cry out of sheer vanity and then put me in a total rut until about 1 pm when I realized how silly I had acted. The more I step into the flow of things and stop worrying about what might happen or feel depressed about what did happen, the more at peace I am (thanks LB). We all have 'days' where it feels like the world is ganging up on us, for some of us it's a fabrication in our minds, sometimes it really is just a shitty day full of menial tasks, hard decisions and miscommunication. Either way, we all need to have faith that at the end of it all, we're all gonna be just fine. Everything passes. Everything is temporary. SO when you felt on top of the world about something on Wednesday only to feel totally disappointed by it by Friday, Don't worry! You'll be on top of the world again soon enough :)
Ramble ramble ramble... its now 5:01... only 29 more minutes.
So, what are you gonna do this weekend? Where to now?
Horseshoe is having a mega, amazing, dance your pants off night tomorrow. Here's the link for deets... EXCLAIM! Celebrates...
And here's my ticket. (thanks SM & CM) Pretty excited to Spin and cook dinner with my beautiful pregnant sista from another mister, wake up early and flow through an early Yoga sesh in preparation for a great night out with (most) of my favourite people.
Do something that makes you laugh uncontrollably, love without restraint and above all things just be you! In all your beauty...
